Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook have continually said that meaningful relationships and interaction is where they want things to go.
Facebook Group membership is at 200 MILLION right now,
Facebook says they want it to get it to
1 BILLION “meaningful members”.
These latest group updates reinforce that with these new features for Business Pages in groups.
1. FORMATTING
Blog article writing/posting features in posts in groups like headings, bullets, bold, italics, etc. – Like if you’ve ever written an article on LinkedIn
2. UNITS
Choose group type as “Social Learning” and you’ll be able to create easily accessible and searchable learning units
3. BADGES
Like “Conversation Starter”, “Founding Member”, Visial Storyteller”, etc. Gamify’s participation. Makes members want to engage and interact more. Admins can turn on or off.
4. ANALYTICS
Improved and show more to help admins track, grow, and manage the group, like “Growth Details”, top 10 contributors, best performing posts, activity by day and time, etc.
5. MANAGEMENT TOOLS
You can send members a message with the rule they broke if you need to reprimand people. Can also mute them for a period of time.
Activity log for each member showing all their posts and comments etc.
6. MEMBERSHIP FEES
Can charge people to be in group directly through Facebook soon
7. ADDING MEMBERS
You can’t just add people to your group anymore. They have to accept the invitation. Facebook will remind them 1 time after initial invitation. After that, you cannot invite/add that person again.
8. BUSINESS PAGES
Pages can now be members of groups and post, comment, etc. Only works with pages NOT transferred to Business Manager yet. As admin of a group, you can allow or disallow Pages to be members.
9. ADS
Ads within groups probably to come because Facebook is running out of room/ad real estate elsewhere on the platform.
Hopeffully only the business that owns the group will be able to advertise, not other businesses.
